* Exported from MasterCook * Venison Steak Recipe By : Jon Promersberger Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time : 20 minutes Categories : Dinner Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 pound venison 3 tablespoons shortening 1 cup flour 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper Cut the venison into 5/8 inch thick steaks, rinse with cold water then dry with a paper towel. Pound the steak to tenderize. Place the dry ingredients into a bowl and mix. Preheat a cast iron frying pan to medium head and add the shortening. I used butter flavored shortening. The oil should be hot enough that droplets of water are immediately spit back out. Bath the steaks in the flour and seasoning mixture before placing in the frying pan.
