1 cup butter (margarine optional)
DAIRY FREE-substitute Crisco shortening for butter
1cup brown sugar (original recipe called for 1-1/2 cups)
2 eggs
3cups flour
1tsp baking soda
1tsp baking powder
2tsp cinnamon
1/2tsp salt
1tsp nutmeg
1/2cup buttermilk (soured milk optional)
DAIRY FREE-substitute almond milk with 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
2cups oatmeal
2cups chocolate chips, or half chocolate and half cinnamon chips
DAIRY FREE-Kirkland brand or Simply Delicious, made with only 3 ingredients
1/2cup nuts (optional)
2tbsp baking chocolate (optional)
Cream margarine and sugar. Beat in eggs. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Stir in milk, oats, chips, and nuts. Drop by heaping teaspoon on greased baking sheet.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Cool 10 minutes on pan before removing to wire rack.

Yield: approximately 5 dozen.
